THE BAND
Fusing hip hop breakbeats and eclectic song writing, PVD explores the best in old and new music. Drawing from a vast catalog of influences, the band gets down and dirty as a rock band while maintaining the refreshing subtlety and spontanaiety of an acoustic jazz group. Combining pop sensibilities, alongside jazz harmony, and stellar improvisation, the PVD sound keeps your head nodding and your feet moving. Reminiscent of an early fusion group, PVD's sonic pallette includes acoustic instruments alongside electronic synthesizers comprising the very powerful sound of the PVD live show. Equally dedicated to earning support from the jam band scene, as well as the respect of the jazz community, this powerhouse rhythm section grooves like no other. The core elements of drums, (Pat Van Dyke), and bass, (Kellen Harrison) hold it down while the vintage sound of the Fender Rhodes, (Jameel Roberts) pumps out lush harmonies. Guitarist, Ben Zeff completes the sound, often juggling roles of soloist and melodist. Having played throughout the tri-state area over the course of the past year and a half, PVD has built up a solid following and a well deserved reputation for rocking crowds as well as peaking the interest of the more intellectual listener. Upon the release of their latest record, "DOWN FOR THE GET DOWN", PVD packed the house for their Record Release Party in NYC's East Village. As a result of their hard work and constant exposure, the audience that was once a few loyal fans has grown to a dedicated following of many as PVD continues to bring their energetic live show to the stage. Performing the music of drummer/composer Pat Van Dyke, the band frequents the New York City area, doing what they do best at large and small venues throuhout the tri-state area. Guaranteed to show you a good time, PVD will get you out of your seat and make you want to move. Hope you are DOWN FOR THE GET DOWN. |
